What you’ll learn
- Explain what a debate is and take a side when given a topic
- Say 'I agree' or 'I disagree because' with one clear reason
- Support a reason with a real example from school or home
- Listen to a friend's point and reply to it, not past it
- Disagree politely using 'I see your point, but'
- Speak for one minute on a side you were given and hold a mini-debate on both sides
Skills you’ll practise
This course is for
Classes 5–8, ages 10–14. A friendly first debate course for children aged 10 to 14, played as a game of reason tennis. With the tutor as a classmate on the other side, the child learns what a debate is, how to say 'I agree' or 'I disagree because', how to give one strong reason with an example, how to listen and reply to a friend's point, how to disagree politely, and how to speak for a minute on a side they do not believe. The course ends with a scored mini-debate where the child argues both sides.
level
No prior speaking practice needed. Short sentences, lots of repetition, Hindi support whenever you need it.
