What this interview looks like
NESTS recruits through the EMRS Staff Selection Exam, a computer-based or OMR written test, with ESSE 2023 and the subsequent cycle filling thousands of PGT and TGT posts. In recent cycles the written test has carried most or all of the selection weight for PGT and TGT, while Principal and Vice Principal posts and several state-society and contractual engagements have included an interview and demonstration lesson; the exact stage structure varies by notification, so candidates should check the current advertisement. Where a panel is held it is usually a NESTS or state-society officer or an EMRS Principal as chair, a subject expert, and an education or tribal-welfare representative, running 10 to 20 minutes in Hindi and English. The panel probes subject depth at the level to be taught, a demo lesson, and above all suitability for a residential school in a remote tribal block: hostel and house-master duties, bridging the learning gaps of first-generation learners, respecting tribal languages and culture while teaching in English and Hindi, child safety and health in a hostel, and staying on a campus with limited connectivity. The ExamPilot mock compresses this into an 18-minute four-member panel: introduction, subject, pedagogy with a demo micro-segment, residential-school situations and a brief closing.
