What this interview looks like
Be clear about the real process: DSSSB's regular PGT, TGT and PRT recruitment is decided on an objective one-tier written examination, and there is no interview in that standard pipeline. Face-to-face selection does exist in the Delhi government school system in specific forms: the Directorate of Education and the Delhi Board of School Education have selected teachers for Schools of Specialised Excellence through a written test followed by an interview and a demonstration lesson; guest and contract teachers are engaged after an interaction with the school's selection committee; and some DSSSB posts, such as Vice Principal, EVGC and lecturer-level posts, carry a two-tier or interview component where the notification says so. These panels are typically a Principal or Deputy Director of Education as chair, a subject expert from SCERT or a senior PGT, and an education-department officer, and run 10 to 20 minutes in Hindi and English. They probe subject depth, a demo lesson, awareness of Delhi initiatives such as Mission Buniyaad, the Happiness and Deshbhakti curricula, Entrepreneurship Mindset Curriculum and Chunauti, and how a teacher copes with large classes, double-shift schools and first-generation learners. The ExamPilot mock compresses this into an 18-minute four-member panel.
How it is weighted
Regular DSSSB PGT selection is by one-tier written exam with no interview. Where an interview and demo lesson is held (Schools of Specialised Excellence, contract or guest engagement, notified two-tier posts), it is the deciding stage and the panel's recommendation is final.
Who this is for
Master's degree in the subject with at least 50% marks and B.Ed (relaxations for some subjects as per the Recruitment Rules); working knowledge of Hindi; age limit generally 36 years for regular posts with category relaxations. For SoSE and guest-teacher rounds the Directorate's circular governs; DSSSB regular selection itself is on the written exam.

DSSSB PGT interview questions
Questions panels commonly ask in the DSSSB PGT interview, with what a strong answer covers. Practise them aloud with the AI panel.
- Demo lesson
You are being considered for a School of Specialised Excellence focused on STEM. Teach us Ohm's law in five minutes as you would to Class 11 students preparing for both boards and JEE.
What a strong answer covers
A quick hook, the V-I relationship built from a simple circuit or data table, the graph and its slope, limitations such as non-ohmic devices, and one conceptual question that tests understanding beyond the formula. Avoid only stating V equals IR and solving a numerical without any student interaction.
- Large classes
Your Class 12 Accountancy section in a Delhi government school has 55 students, many of whom will be first in their family to sit a board exam in Commerce. How would you organise the year?
What a strong answer covers
A term plan with chapter weightage in mind, fixed practice days for partnership and company accounts, peer-learning groups, regular tests with error analysis, parent contact and guidance on careers after Commerce. Avoid assuming home support or private tuition, or teaching only to the top of the class.
- Delhi initiatives
How would the Entrepreneurship Mindset Curriculum approach fit into your Class 11 Economics or Business Studies teaching?
What a strong answer covers
Connects mindset ideas such as identifying a problem, taking initiative and learning from failure to subject concepts like demand, costs or marketing, perhaps through a small student project with a budget. Keeps board content central. Avoid treating it as a separate add-on unrelated to the subject or describing it inaccurately.
- Double-shift schools
A double-shift school means you teach the afternoon shift, and many senior students work part-time in the mornings. How would you adapt homework and assessment for them?
What a strong answer covers
Realistic, shorter tasks, in-class practice time, flexible submission within limits, use of free periods for doubt clearing, and sensitivity about family circumstances while keeping standards for internal assessment. Avoid ignoring students' realities or lowering expectations so far that board preparation suffers.
- Assessment
Frame a competency-based question for Class 12 Biology on inheritance, and explain how you would mark a student who reasons correctly but makes one calculation slip.
What a strong answer covers
A context-based question, such as a family pedigree or a cross with given ratios, asking students to predict and justify. Marking awards stepwise reasoning per CBSE marking practice and deducts only for the slip. Avoid a recall question like define codominance, or all-or-nothing marking.
- Bilingual teaching
How would you teach a Class 12 English poem to a section where a third of the students think in Hindi and find English literature intimidating?
What a strong answer covers
Reading aloud, paraphrasing in simple English with occasional Hindi support, focusing on images and feelings before literary devices, group discussion and short personal responses, then board-style answer writing. Avoid translating the whole poem line by line into Hindi or skipping discussion to dictate notes.
- Values education
How would you include the Deshbhakti curriculum spirit of constitutional values in a Class 12 Political Science lesson without it becoming partisan?
What a strong answer covers
Grounds the discussion in the Constitution, fundamental rights and duties, and real stories of citizens and freedom fighters across backgrounds, encourages respectful disagreement and evidence, and keeps current party politics out of the classroom. Avoid praising or attacking any party or government in class.
- Subject depth
As a PGT Computer Science teacher, how would you start Python with Class 11 students who have barely used a computer at home?
What a strong answer covers
Starting with what a program is through everyday algorithms, guided hands-on lab time, pair programming, small programs with visible results such as a marks calculator, and a gradual move to the CBSE syllabus. Avoid assuming prior exposure or starting with theory-heavy definitions of data types.
- Guest teaching
आप गेस्ट टीचर के रूप में इतिहास पढ़ाने आए हैं और सत्र आधा बीत चुका है। कक्षा 12 के छात्रों का विश्वास जल्दी कैसे जीतेंगे?
What a strong answer covers
A quick check of what has been covered, a clear plan shared with students, a strong first lesson, availability for doubts, regular feedback and coordination with the Head of School. Shows fluent Hindi if the panel asks in Hindi. Avoid criticising the previous teacher or rushing through chapters without checking understanding.

How scoring works
A report you can act on
Every round is scored on the rubric
Each interviewer scores only the criteria their round covers. Weights add up to your overall score out of 100.
Only what you actually said counts
Feedback quotes your own answers. Rounds you skip show as “Not assessed” rather than a zero.
Communication is always measured
Fluency, clarity, confidence and structure are tracked across the whole interview, in any language.
