How it works in India

What these interviews look like

Large IT services companies hire freshers at scale, on campus and off campus, through a predictable sequence: an online assessment of aptitude, reasoning, verbal ability and coding, then one or more interviews. TCS, through its National Qualifier Test, typically follows the test with technical, managerial and HR interviews, sometimes on the same day. Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, Cognizant, Capgemini, HCLTech, Tech Mahindra, LTIMindtree and IBM run their own tests and interview rounds, and some add a communication assessment. Product companies such as Amazon, Microsoft and Google, the Big 4 consulting firms and investment banks run longer processes with coding, case or technical rounds.

In the technical round, expect questions on your strongest programming language, object-oriented concepts, databases and SQL, data structures, and the projects on your resume. Interviewers often pick one project and go deep: what you built, the stack, what went wrong and how you fixed it. The managerial round tests problem-solving and how you handle pressure or a disagreement. The HR round covers your introduction, relocation, shifts, service agreements and why this company. Product companies add harder coding problems and behavioural questions based on their stated principles.

Prepare by revising the fundamentals, practising coding problems at the level of your target company and rehearsing a clear walk-through of each project. Read about the company’s business and recent news. Practise answering in English at a steady pace, since communication is assessed in every round.

ExamPilot runs these programmes round by round: TCS NQT, Infosys, Wipro and Accenture; Cognizant GenC, Capgemini, HCLTech, Tech Mahindra, LTIMindtree and IBM; and big tech SDE, Big 4 and consulting analyst, investment bank analyst and APM interviews.

How do I prepare for an Infosys or Accenture campus interview?

Clear the online assessment first, then revise programming fundamentals and your projects for the technical interview, and practise a crisp introduction and answers about relocation and learning new technologies for the HR round.
